To continue to use self evaluation tool HGIOS3 to highlight our school's strengths and areas for development
|
All staff were involved in evaluating a further 10 performance indicators this session. The work produced by the staff was then presented to the parent council and they considered if they were in agreement with our evaluations. Action points raised by the parent council were then further discussed with staff and pupils were consulted through our pupil council and at assemblies. The performance profile has now been updated taking all comments into consideration. The final 10 indicators will be completed next session enabling us to complete our first full cycle.

To explore opportunities for interdisciplinary working & Rich Tasks
|
Following on from the excellent work in this area last session we have now updated all our environmental studies topics in line with Curriculum for Excellence learning outcomes. We have a new formula for topic planning which involves a planning sheet by the pupils and staff are now much more responsive to incorporating pupils interests in the topics. We have purchased 16 new topics and staff have been working very closely with a consultant to produce topics for our infant department. All teaching staff have been involved in in-service training and familiarising themselves with Curriculum for Excellence learning outcomes and on Rich Tasks. A considerable time has been allocated to ensure that Enterprise permeates throughout our topics. Strathaven Learning Community ASG (Associated Schools Group) have been working together to produce Rich Tasks for pupils across the learning community and we will include their work with the excellent work already produced by KP staff.

To develop GLOW within Kirklandpark Primary
|
A working group has been form to take forward this development. A\ staff have been given passwords and are now familiar with the GLOW website. Staff have identified areas in which they will use the site and many have already started using the group facility and have uploaded work into shared areas. There are very strong links with our work on Environmental Studies topics and staff confidence is growing in working with this resource. Pupil passwords are in the process of being set up. Excellent progress has been made to date.

Implement key aspects of the Parents as Partners Strategy

Our Parent Council and Parent Association are working as hard as ever to work in partnership with the school to improve the learning experienced and opportunities for our pupils. Our Parent Council put on a wonderful display and shared their expertise with others at the 'Parents as Partners' conference in November. We now have 3 extra curricular groups - French, Gaelic and Fun Fitness where parents play lead roles. Our Curriculum for Excellence Fun Night was very well attended with pupil, staff and parents have fun with active learning. Questionnaires and Feedback sheets have been very positive.-An excellent partnership within the school
